My Experience Studying in the English Tadris Department
More Than Just Learning a Language
Hello everyone!
My name is Nafisa Ameliya, and I'm currently a student in the English Tadris Department. In this blog post, I'd like to share a bit about my personal experience studying in this program. Hopefully, it can give you some insight if you're curious or considering a similar path in English education. My First Impressions I chose this major because of two main reasons: I love the English language, and I want to become a teacher. At first, I thought the courses would be mostly about vocabulary and grammar. But I soon realized it's much more than that. We study educational psychology, teaching methods, curriculum development, and even do teaching simulations.
Challenges and Fun Experiences
For some people, studying in the English Education (Tadris Bahasa Inggris) department sounds exciting—learning an international language, becoming a teacher, and having the opportunity to broaden cultural insights. But behind all of that, there are many challenges that students must face.Uneven Language Proficiency When we first entered college, we came from different educational backgrounds.Speaking and Listening Remain a Struggle Speaking and listening in English are not easy tasks.Despite all the challenges, studying in the English Education department also brings valuable lessons. We learn to be more disciplined, confident, and continuously improve ourselves. Because in the end, being an English teacher is not just about knowing the language, but also about perseverance and a never-ending passion for learning.
Hopes and Dreams My biggest hope is to become a teacher who not only teaches English, but also inspires students. There's still a great need for skilled English educators in Indonesia, and I want to contribute to that change.
Of course, there are challenges- especially when doing our teaching practicum (internship) at schools. But that's also where I learned the most. Meeting students, preparing lesson plans, teaching in real classrooms, and receiving feedback from experienced teachers was incredibly valuable.Studying in the English Tadris Department is not just about mastering the language-it's about learning how to share that knowledge with others. I'm truly grateful for the journey so far, and I hope my story gives you a better idea of what it's like to be part of this field.
